Privacy policy

keysprint has no accounts and no advertising. Your typing results stay in your browser. Google Analytics measures page traffic, and this page explains exactly what that means.

The short version

keysprint does not ask for your name, email address or any other contact details. Your best typing score for each test length and your light or dark theme choice are written to your own browser's local storage. We also use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which pages are useful. Google may set cookies and process technical information about your visit, as described below. Your keystrokes and typing results are never sent to Google Analytics.

What is stored, and where

Two pieces of information are kept in your browser's local storage. Local storage stays on your device and is not sent to any server, not even by the site that wrote it. Google Analytics also uses cookies in your browser, which are described in the next section.

WhatWhyWhere
Your best net speed for each test length and text typeSo the site can show you a personal best and tell you when you have beaten it.Your browser's local storage
Your light or dark theme choiceSo the site keeps the theme you picked instead of following your system setting every time.Your browser's local storage

Both are removed if you clear your browser's site data, and both disappear with the browser profile. They are never transmitted, never linked to an account and never visible to anyone else.

Google Analytics

keysprint uses Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-6FJT50DLSS, to count visits and understand which pages people find useful. The measurement tag is loaded fromgoogletagmanager.com on every page.

Google Analytics may set first-party cookies such as _ga and_ga_<container-id>, and may collect technical information including your IP address (used to estimate approximate location), browser and device details, the page you arrived from, the pages you visit and how long you spend on them. Google processes this data under its ownprivacy policy.

We do not send your typing results, keystrokes or the text you type to Google Analytics. The analytics is there to measure page traffic, not to profile how well you type.

You can block or delete analytics cookies through your browser settings, or install theGoogle Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking analytics does not affect the typing test, lessons or saved scores.

What is not collected

  • No name, email address, phone number or account. There is no sign-up form anywhere on the site.
  • No advertising or ad tracking. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no advertising pixels.
  • No keystroke logging. Your typing is measured so that the test can score you, and that is all it is used for. It is not recorded, stored or transmitted.
  • No third-party embeds beyond analytics. There are no social widgets, maps or videos, and no fonts loaded from another company's servers. The only third-party script is the Google Analytics tag described above.

The hosting provider

keysprint is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub has to process your request in order to send you a page, and it may keep standard technical logs such as your IP address, the time of the request and the page requested, for a short period, for security and troubleshooting.

That handling is done by GitHub, not by keysprint. keysprint has no access to those logs and does not use them for anything. TheGitHub Privacy Statementexplains the details.

Children

keysprint is a general audience site and is not directed at children. We do not ask for personal information, and we do not knowingly collect it from children. The Google Analytics data described above is used in aggregate to understand page traffic.

Your choices

You can clear the stored scores and theme through your browser's settings. Clearing your browsing data removes the local storage along with the analytics cookies. You can also block analytics cookies or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on without affecting the typing test.

If you have a question about anything on this page, thecontact page explains how to reach the person behind the site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it. There is no list to sign up for and no notification to send, because the site does not collect an address to send one to.
